Meet the Leadership Team

Mark is a dynamic entrepreneur who launched his career at the age of 26 after leaving Meespierson Intertrust Isle of Man, where he mastered the intricacies of law, accountancy, international tax planning, and corporate structuring.

Mark is Chairman of multiple corporations covering a broad spectrum of industries. From holding a direct license with the Tobique Gaming Commission to leading a world 8-ball pool tour promotion company, his leadership is far-reaching. Among Mark’s notable achievements, include orchestrating the acquisition and subsequent sale of the financial institution “Oonex” to Equals PLC.

His portfolio is a testament to his versatility, which includes a private equity firm, to a metaverse, and a thriving healthcare group. Over 600 individuals are part of his expansive network, working across multiple industries, making his team capable of understanding and commercialising almost any venture.

Mark’s journey is one of relentless ambition, strategic foresight, and the ability to transform visionary ideas into successful and thriving enterprises.

Nick Maybin is the CEO and Co-founder of Animo Digital. Based on the Isle of Man, Nick frequently works from the group’s St. James’s office in London, where he collaborates closely with clients and partners to drive innovation in fintech and digital assets.

With extensive experience in governance, operational strategy, and digital transformation, Nick held senior leadership roles, including COO and CSO, at prominent digital asset companies achieving key regulatory milestones and driving sustainable business growth. In addition, Nick serves as a Non-Executive Director for several Web3 ventures, contributing to their innovation and expansion.

A graduate of Newcastle University, he began his professional journey as a dentist before his entrepreneurial spirit led him into the dynamic digital world. Currently on track to becoming a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors, Nick holds multiple industry-relevant qualifications, including certifications from the International Compliance Association and Oxford Saïd Business School.

Tim Buckingham is a specialist regulatory, compliance and risk lawyer, and managing partner of Buckingham & Buckingham LLP, a boutique compliance, regulatory and corporate advice law firm based in the centre of London but with a global client base.

Tim has worked for some of the largest law firms in the world, where he led the payments teams and built a reputation as a specialist in the various payment methodologies, from credit cards to e-wallets to cryptocurrencies. Tim was the lead lawyer in the successful case of Barclays Bank PLC – v – Lancore, the primary European case on the obligations of a payment processor to settle credit card funds to a merchant. The case has been subsequently used in the interpretation of both the original PSD and PSD2.

Tim also dealt with the collapse of Thomas Cook on behalf of a payment processor, dealing with a mix of Scheme queries from Visa and MasterCard as well as interacting with insurers, banks, customers and the insolvency practitioners, assisting in the development of a bespoke chargeback and dispute handling service. Tim took that experience and launched Buckingham Advisory Services Ltd, a company which specialises in bespoke chargeback and alerting solutions tailored to the gaming industry.

Tim is a regular speaker at industry events as well as a contributor to journals and industry publications.

 

Peter is recognised as a leading expert in fintech. He is listed as a band 1 Fintech consultant by Chambers & Partners 2021 and 2020 who were informed independently by Peter’s clients that:

Peter sits on the board of a number of innovative regulated companies, including Susquehanna International (Central Bank of Ireland regulated), TransferMate (CBI regulated), AWM Wealth Advisers (CBI regulated ) and Optal Financial Europe (CBI regulated). At these companies Peter serves as either Chairman, INED and/or Member of Audit and Risk Committees.

Peter is approached to: serve as non-executive director of regulated companies, particularly fintech particularly at the intersection of regulation.
He can lead, manage and advise on complex regulatory applications in payments, emoney, MiFID and Banking across multiple European Union jurisdictions.
